I love a good comeback story. Whether it’s sports, business or even a television show, I’m always intrigued when an underdog just keeps fighting their way to the top. The show Timeless, is a perfect fit for this category. There was plenty of hype around this show before it premiered last year, but despite quality content and a compelling story line, it was cancelled…for 2 days. Then, whether it was fan outreach or just a change of heart, Timeless was resigned for another season, which just began and is better than ever.
I am on the hunt for television shows my whole family can enjoy because as the kids grow older and we all grow busier, it seems gathered around the television on a weeknight is some of the only time we can get all together. Timeless checks all the boxes to keep all five engaged. My daughter and I love that there is a female lead. The boys dig on the science fiction and history part, and my husband and I just enjoy well written television and Timeless sure fits that description. There is some contextual violence, as the characters travel back in time to real events, but nothing too much for kids and the sex and swearing isn’t anything they aren’t hearing in school hallways, so I’m not worried there either. And the events of the show provide for some great conversation starters about things that are topical today. Also, if I’m being totally honest, it helps mama that Goran Visnjic (an old ER crush) is the bad guy.
So, if your school aged kiddoes are too young for the ten o’clock Sunday night start time, don’t forget to hit record on the DVR and watch with your kids later. As for us, you can find this family of 5 on the sectional Sunday nights at ten for our Timeless time.
