When I was young I used to love to hear live music but I always preferred cover bands because then I could sing along. I love hearing new music, but not when I’m out and want to pretend I’m in the band. Also, I think a good cover is hard to do. I chose these because they aren’t really covers so much as interpretations. That may be even cooler-taking a song and turning it on it’s ear. These people do that wonderfully.
Boys Don’t Cry-Grant Lee Phillips: Talk about 180 degrees different. He’s not even wearing lip liner!
Ray Lamontagne- Crazy: I love the Gnarls Barkley version which makes this one even sweeter. Also, R.L makes me swoon-beard and all.
Nouvelle Vague- I Melt with You: I always thought a girl should sing it.
Quietdrive-Time After Time: This one’s just fun.
She & Him- Bring It On Home to Me– It may be sacrilege to cover the Great Mr. Cook but I do love me some wacky Deschanel so there you go.
