Sometimes.
Late at night.
I dream of…
appliances.
I know. I’m crazy. But it’s true. I have a serious case of bad-kitchen-itis. My fridge is too small, my counters not plentiful and I have bowls and choppers spilling off open shelves because they do not have a proper cabinet home. My kitchen is larger than any I’ve ever had, but it is the least cook-friendly. The space is not used well at all. I love my new house. I hate my new kitchen and I spend more time than I’m comfortable admitting imagining a room where every dish has a place and nary a peach rots in my ample, clean fridge.
Let me tell you, I dream a great kitchen. I am not an extravagant girl, so you can keep your stainless steel and granite, for me it’s all about efficiency and usefulness.
Imagine how much self-control I had to practice when I was invited to Samsung’s Make Your House Work event a few weeks ago. I was literally surrounded by the dreamiest of kitchen and laundry appliances. The 28 cu. ft. Four Door Refridgerator was not only big enough to house all my fresh vegetables, it has a touch LCD screen that includes a Grocery Manager app to ORGANIZE my fresh vegetables by date and area in the fridge, like a custom map for your cold foodstuff. Incredible.
The Flex Duo Oven can cook fish and flaky tarts at the SAME TIME while maintaining their separate divine aromas. Amazing.
Finally, The Big Mama 4.5 cu. ft. capacity High Efficiency Top Load Washer does 2.4 laundry baskets (or 32 bath towels) at once and treats your clothes as gentle as a front loader without the icky mold that front loaders can bring. I’m in love.
Perhaps the most fun part of the event was seeing my organizational hero Julie Morgenstern in person. I’ve had a nerdy-neat-girl crush on Ms. Morgenstern since I started using her planning notebook from Franklin Covey years ago. (They don’t make it anymore. Trust me, I stalk her on twitter about it often and as She promised there is a new version!) If Samsung is smart enough to seek the organization counsel of someone like Julie Morgenstern for their make your house work appliances, they must be the picture of efficiency.
Samsung’s Senior VP of Home Appliances, Kevin Dexter, summed it up best,“Samsung’s deep understanding for how technology can transform lives for the better has led to smart innovations and products you never thought possible… But it’s not just technology for technology’s sake. We’re using it in ways that are highly relevant to how moms are living their lives today. And now words like Wi-Fi capabilities and smart phone controls are being said in the same breath as refrigerators and washers.”
My kitchen dreams just got a whole lot more tech-savvy.
I was invited to preview these appliances at a lunch event sponsored by Samsung where I recieved a copy of Julie Morgentern’s book. My drooling-over-appliances opinions are all my own.
