I’ve just come back from a visit to my old stomping grounds and I’ve very much enjoyed the week in my new(ish) home so today’s post is inspired by just that: Songs that remind me of home, no matter where home may be.
Fleetwood Mac-Silver Springs: I know, there should only be one S. But when your nowhere hometown sorta ends up in the title of a song then you celebrate it.
Junkyard Band-Sardines: “You’ll don’t know this one, you don’t know nothin.” You can not have grown up in and around DC in the last 30 years and NOT know this song. Period. Yes, this video is in the parking lot of RFK which makes it that much sweeter.
Bruce Springsteen-Jersey Girl: We have to love this one now. We have a Jersey Girl. This video is particulary perfect because it’s Bon Jovi covering this Bruce song. It’s a Jersey Trifecta:Bruce, John and Jersey Girl.
Lady Antebellum- Home is Where the Heart Is: “Made it all the way to West Virginia where my heart found exactly where I’m supposed to be didn’t take much time. Just south of the Mason Dixon line.”
Billy Joel- You’re My Home: “Always comes as a surprise when I feel my withered roots begin to grow.”
