Girlfriends Set Me Straight

In an effort to psych myself up for the move, I solicited the help of my good girlfriends from the Garden State. Some of these ladies were born and raised in NJ and I’ve met them as college friends or Maryland neighbors or Mary Kay unit members. Some of these ladies still live in the Garden State and one even moved there from Silver Spring and stayed! As I sent out the email requesting these responses I realized how many people I know from Jersey. It got me thinking, how did New Jersey earn the not so nice reputation it has with the outside world? Every town I’ve been to, from Summit to Spring Lake, is downright gorgeous. And the people I’ve met, both here and there are literally among the kindest, funniest, warmest hearted people I know. They are also fabulously funny and there isn’t an ugly one among them. Jersey girls are quite easy on the eyes. After reading their responses though, I have to wonder how they all stay skinny. Each woman mentioned at least one kind of food and multiple restaurants on their favorites’ lists. Perhaps the calories count for less in Jersey!
So, listen world New Jersey is not an armpit or a rest stop state. It has way more to offer than just Bruce and Jon. Here are some of the things you’re missing, provided by Jersey’s own. Thanks Girls!

10. Fresh Produce and Farm Stands where you can buy “the best” corn and tomatoes.
9. Fantastic Towns: Spring Lake, Summit, Princeton, Cape May, Ocean Grove and of course AC.
8. Family wants to visit because you’re close to The City and the beach. (My favorite!)
7. The way we talk (tawk)
6. The smell of lowtide at any number of incredible beaches.
5. Downtown Red Bank (yippee!)
4. The Nails (this might actually be my favorite)
3. Ice Cream at The Day or Hoffman’s, Italian at Vic’s, Pizza at Squan (the list is endless!)
2. Never having to pump your own gas.
And the number one reason it will be great to be from NJ….
