The warm weather last weekend compelled us to invite some neighbors over for a backyard Bar-B-Que. These two happen to have the same wacky-ecclectic musical taste I do so of course it was necessary to make a mix. I’m not sure they liked everything, but there was no complaining so I considered it a success.
Here’s a sampling (there were over 70 songs!). Hope you get to enjoy some outside this weekend!
Counting Crows, Mrs. Potter’s Lullaby:Some of the best lyrics ever in this song. I love, “Dreamed I never know anyone at the party and I’m always the host.” AND “If you’ve never stared off into the distance then your life is a shame. I’ll never forget your face sometimes I can’t remember my name.”
Jay-Z & Linkin Park-Dirt Off Your Shoulder/Lying from You:The reason I love music-collaborations like this. Don’t listen too loud in front of your kids unless you want some “Lucy ‘splainin to do”.
Mumford and Sons, Winter Winds: Your neck hurt from the whiplash yet? This is why I’m not a dj-less-than-smooth transitions. What can I say? I like a deep breath song after rocking out to that last song.
Green Day, Jesus of Suburbia: Aaaand we’re back to banging our heads. This song sounds particularly good accompanied by the sweet sweet sound of a popped top on an ice-cold beer on a warm Saturday night. Cheers.
