I’m not big on plopping babies in front of videos and when I had my first she almost never watched any television before age two. Not that I was against it, but it seemed she could be occupied other ways and we had more time to interact together so instead of watching play, we played.
But then her brother was born, and then another brother and before I knew it, I needed videos just to shower!
I did not love those videos where you just watched toys flash across the screen but I do love anything with music, singing and of course dancing puppets. I love a video that gets you up and moving so I love dance and song shows with my kids. Also, if what we watch also corresponds with toys and books that we can use when the screen is off, even better.
Disney’s New Baby Einstein World of Rhythm Discovery Kit does all of that. The videos show real world objects and puppets to help explore rhythm in music and nature. The kit includes a corresponding board book, that contains simple rhymes, for your baby to chew on peruse as well. There is as a signature Einstein type CD included that has songs from the video for you to listen to anywhere. We all know babies love familiarity and repetition so this cross-modality kit is fantastic for that. Finally, the kit contains a Parent Guide that gives some helpful tips or how to expand even further.
Since my babies are beyond these ages (sadly) I have a kit available for you! Just leave a comment below with your email address and I will choose a winner in one week. The winner will be chosen randomly so if you want to up your chances, stop by The Right Hand Mom Facebook Page and “like” us there as well.
Happy Dancing!
