I’m not sure about you, but since the beginning of digital photos, I have been terrible about printing actual photos on real paper. I mean, I have thousands of digital images saved on my computer, phone and various other devices I use to take photos but I never seem to garner the time to print any of them. It’s embarrassing really. I have no good excuse. It’s just that taking digital photos is so convenient but, for me, printing them is not.
Enter the Duane Reade iPhone App. You all know by now I love me some Duane Reade and somehow manage to shop there every time I’m in the city for something else. It’s the best drugstore for a drugstore lover like myself. It’s huge and has literally everything you need.
As if I didn’t dig DR enough, now they have an App that makes life even easier. You can do a lot of things with this puppy, like check on and refill prescriptions by scan, locate stores and manage your Balance Reward Points. My favorite feature is the photo feature. It allows you to print photos directly from your phone and pick up real-life photos at many of the Duane Reade locations.
That means all the cute Instagram photos I have or even those on my camera roll that just sit there, for no reason other than letting me to browse from time to time, can actually become real shots I might even frame someday. (If only Duane Reade had an app for that!) You can even print photos directly from Facebook so you don’t even have to be the photographer to order the great print. If someone has added a photo to your FB page, you can get a copy printed with the Duane Reade App.
It’s super simple. The other day, when I knew I had to go into the city for the Getting Gorgeous event, I decided to try out the app to order some prints from pictures I really liked that I’d taken on my phone. You can see the whole trip in my Google+ story. Here I’ll show you want I did to get there.
First I opened the photo option on the app.
I picked a photo from my camera roll.
It asked if I wanted more so I added a few more to the order.
Then I just added the zip code closest to the area where I would be that day and it found me a store with a photo printing station. These stores are literally everywhere throughout the city so my options were great. Another thing I love about this place.
After checkout, I was ready to pickup hours later.
I headed to the store and got my photos which looked great. I had 5×7 prints made so perhaps The Husband could frame a couple and take them to work, where he is getting teased about his blank, empty office. I hope this helps!
Now that I know how easy Duane Reade has made it, I’ll use this app more often to rescue my photos from my phone and bring them into real life! You can download the app yourself from iTunes. Clearly, I think you should. Your pictures will thank you.

You, too, huh? I must have just as many neglected photos about and I know this App would take away my “busy Mom” excuse, to the delight of my family and friends, providing me with prints to share! Duane Reade keeps becoming more of a one stop meets all needs locations, seemingly, every day! Thanks so much for sharing 🙂
