This year I got the chance to hang-albeit briefly-with these ladies. I have memories of each of them. Even though as kids we spent very little time together, it is safe to say I had built them up to be super-hero like in my mind. They come from great families and I adore each of their siblings as well. But these two-there is something about these two.
Today, I am grateful that I was spot on in my recollections of them. As kids, the few years they had on me meant I idolized them both. As an adult, I realize they are not so much older than me, but I still feel the same way. They are as amazing as I remember. I wish I lived closer. They are each in different places that seem all the way across the world. Every time I read/see about their families and kids I ache for every day interactions with them. But, since today is about gratitude, I will focus instead on how thankful I am that I get to call them family-no matter how near of far.
