I’ve finally given in to the dangerous sunscreen hype. The video below explains why and then I share what we’re using now. It’s a longer video than you’re used to from me, but it’s chock full of information.

If you want the nitty gritty on how chemical sunscreens may actually cause cancer, read this article. Trust me when I say spending $10-$15 on mineral based sunscreen will no longer seem frivolous. This is the article that changed my habits almost instantly. If you want to read more about the topic, this post by my friend Jo Lynne is what caused me to pull my head out of the clouds and get serious about what I put on my and my kids’ skin. I know Jo Lynne well and she isn’t about hype. She takes her time to research the ins and outs of every decision and I trust what she shares to be rational and true, not conspiracy theory. I also found this video by John Douillard, DC which talks about optimizing Vitamin D, which every person I know needs to hear more about!
Finally, the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep website is where all the information that I use is stored. Let me warn you though, it can be overwhelming and cause even more panic if you go down certain rabitt holes. So, if you’re just diving into this sunscreen game, stick with Katie and Jo Lynne or even me. I do alright too, you know except for that pump spray bottle;)

I love Badger everything. I have 8-10 balms at all times. Their bug balm is awesome. And I have a headache balm in every purse and room. We used the Badger zinc stick last year. But I haven’t tried their cream sunscreen.

I have been using California Baby since Jack was born in CA….almost 10 years!
Never stopped and never will. Apply once(really) It IS expensive but worth it. All three kids have Never gotten a sunburn.
That’s why you’re my role model.:) I have off an on used CA Baby too. For some reason when they were little I was more concerned about ingredients and then as they got older I just wanted to make sure it got on them. Now I know better. You’re so smart.;)
