How did I ever live without this guy? |
I could rail away on snow but there’s really no point. It’s a tired story.
The reason I waited so long to post today is because I’m home with all three so there is lots of cooking happening. One of my recent pass times has been spending time my kitchen trying to “kick it old school” and make meals from scratch. Currently I have dough rising so later we can make our own pizza together.
That’s the portion The Husband eats. He doesn’t care that it’s cold. He’s not picky. Yes, he’s still super skinny. I hate it. |
You all know my Pioneer Woman Obsession, but if we ate like she cooks all the time we’d all be dead from heart attacks around here. Yep, her cookbook is a Sunday Dinner or Holiday Meal staple but not for every day.
Lately, I’ve done some cooking from the Jessica Seinfeld cookbook, The Earth Bound Cook and The Flat Belly Diet Cookbook for families. Of course, I’ve also relied on my good old friend Joy of Cooking and the stack of torn pages I’ve collected from Good Housekeeping.
Snowed in means the snowman cake was chocolate. No complaints about this “slop”. |
I’ll go into more detail soon about what’s worked and what hasn’t. We’re on week three of meal planning and so far so good. Well, that is of course for when my son said, “I’ll never get dessert again as long as you keep making this slop”. That was not my best day but I’m trying not to let the opinions of a six year old get in the way of my good time.
While you’re waiting for details about our meals here, you can check out Jennifer Perillo’s sites. She is a mom from Brooklyn who also happens to be an amazing chef. I’m more than slightly obsessed with her and all that she does. Don’t tell her she may think I’m weird. Jennifer shares her genius at In Jennie’s Kitchen and her latest endeavor Simply Scratch. She’s pretty famous in my little world and I guarantee she’ll be Giada famous soon enough. So check her out now and you can say you knew her when.
