No matter how many new tech devices I find to keep track of my world, I can’t resist the lure of a good old paper notebook or dayplanner. Time and time again I abandon fancier things to go back to my old spiral bound or moleskin friends.
I write to-do lists in a notebook. I keep track of my finances in a notebook. Most of my life can be found in the pages of a notebook. When I decided to give myself a little challenge of completing something called “morning pages” every day for two weeks, I knew I was going to need a special notebook. This project requires a bit of writing each morning in an attempt to clear your head and open yourself up to creative flow and as much as I love paper, it takes a little extra oomph for me to want to write my thoughts in one every day, especially before I’m even fully out of bed!
You can imagine my joy when I discovered Paperblanks. This line, like moleskin, has journals, address books and day planners. Each product is more beautiful than the next. These delectable little critters a have a story of their own. Each design in inspired by “visionaries, rebels, and artists across the ages”. I mean, what better place to attempt to spur creative thought than in a notebook inspired by a visionary? The writer in me loves the Paperblanks products because every time I pick mine up I’m reminded of the thinkers and artists that inspired it. The aesthetic part of me just loves the way my Paperblank notebook looks and feels.
I have a journal from the French Ornate collection. It looks as if it is wrapped in intricately beaded silk. It’s beautiful to see and a pleasure to hold. It’s easy to write in and even has a little pocket in the back and a magnetic flap to keep everything safely tucked inside. That appeals the the part of me that cares more about practicality than beauty.
This little sucker has it all and I think this may become my Money Notebook, because it’s beauty may take the sting out of writing my budget!
Not every offering is as ornate as, well, French Ornate. There are more simple designs and even more intricate. There truly is something for every taste here. I think these will make great hostess gifts or gifts for all those 40th birthdays I have to celebrate in my future. Of course, they’re also a great gift to give to yourself. We’ve talked a lot here lately about taking time for you and having a little fun. What’s more pampering than rewarding yourself with a gorgeously indulgent place to record your thoughts, dreams or just your grocery lists or daily schedule?
You can find Paperblanks at select online retailers as well as stationary shops, bookstores and museums throughout North America. Just visit the Paperblanks website to locate a retailer. Of course, you could also win one for free! Just tell me in the comments below what it is you’d use your Paperblanks for. I’ll pick a winner at the end of the week.
Disclosure: I was given a Paperblanks journal for the purpose of this review but all opinions (and mild gushing) are my own.

I am a avid journal writer and Paperblanks is one of my favorite journals – I am using the Tiffany Leaded Glass collection now – which is really nice because the binding opens flat.
Try as I might to “go electronic” with my schedule, my budget, my “blogging”/ideas & even my contacts/networking – I find it all in the margins of my journal – beside the grocery list, the number of the new vet & a reminder to send a birthday card to my brother!

Oh man can I relate! I keep going back to a paper and pencil calendar because when I think I’ll use my phone I have all those “margin notes” too!

I need a journal for quotes by Grand/Greatgrand children. They are funny, clever, wise, etc. and should be kept for posterity in a beautiful book, because they (the children) are beautiful.

What a beautiful reason!

oooh! I want one. I would probably use it to keep notes about writing projects, my dissertation, and blog post ideas. That was I could stick it in my purse and have it whenever the mood strikes me!

Love it! A mood journal.
