It seemed fitting that in this, the “week of Steve Jobs” my Mini-Van mix should be dedicated to the very piece of technology that inspired these posts to begin with. So I reached out on Facebook (you know, Zuckerberg, Jobs, Jobs, Zuckerberg-whatevs?) to see what they were listening too. You can always count on the interwebs to bring some interesting choices. I present: The MiniVan Mix: What’s On Your iPod Facebook?
Kate’s in Hawaii, about to compete in THE (yes, THE) Kona Ironman Triathalon (Yes, you read that right-SHE and Ironman.) and while she did not specify an artist, I figured when she responded “ALL FIRED UP!” she meant the song. Although, she could have meant herself which would have made perfect sense. I mean, I guess. I have no prior knowledge of how one would feel before swimbikerunning for like four straight days. So back to the song. There were two versions, one was a NYC style club song and the other was Pat Benatar. Kate’s a classic rock kinda gal, so I’m gonna guess she meant this one:
Two times yesterday on Facebook Dave forced me to look stuff up. The first was the word apotheosis. (About Steve Jobs actually. Is that ironic? Dave would know.) The second was this guy and this song. I’ve referenced Dave here before. It’s good to see his musical tastes (uh, and vocabulary) are still challenging me to learn. I love when things like that never change.
Gilberto Gil: Cerebro Electronico
I’m not sure if Susan was kidding or if she really was listening to this. Either answer would point to exactly why I love her.
Diane is Kate’s sister and quite possibly the most devoted sibling I’ve ever known. Since she’s second-head cheerleader for the Super Ironman Support Team, she’s gets a song here today. (I had to look this one up too. I learn so much here!) Just an aside, Kate’s Head Cheerleader, her husband Rich offered up C is for Cookie by none other than the Monster himself. I know Rich, he was quite possibly serious. He deserves props for even being on FB whilst in Hawaii, but no kid music here dude. Sorry. Cheer on!
And because she’s a bride this weekend, Kelly gets whatever she wants, but this choice seemed particularly appropriate. Best Wishes soon to not be Miss Q.
When You Got a Good Thing: Lady Antebellum
