The Husband’s Uncle, A Vietnam Vet, spoke at the small town Memorial Day Parade on Monday. We took the kids to listen to their Great Uncle and to be part of the pageantry that should be included as a way to remember what the weekend was about. It was a lovely gathering of kids and vets, young and old. The Mayor gave a great speech about being grateful and remembering. I hope my kids paid attention because as much as we’re beach worshippers, I want them to know the real meaning of this first summer weekend. We owe at least that to the many who have given so much for us.
I think she heard something good.
