All weekend we’ve been prepping and living out our first beach weekend of the year. We’ve bar-b-qued oceanside and walked into town for ice-cream. We’ve lazed around and we’ve just plain enjoyed our days.
But through all of it, the true reason for these holidays is never far from my mind. Today especially I’m mindful of and ever-thankful for the men and women who make these lazy days possible. The men and women who have given their lives for my freedom. I wish they could know I’m grateful for their sacrifice and that of their families every day-not just today.
For those that I know and those that I don’t who are still here, waking up every day with the intention of doing the work to maintain our freedom, I thank you too. Know that you’re on my mind and that my gratitude is present the other 364 days of the year as well. I scroll through Facebook and see your faces and know that you and the ones who love you are sacrificing for all of us every single day.
For that, and for those that came before you, I am grateful.
