World Vision is an organization that does myriad things to help combat poverty around the glob. The people at World Vision call themselves “dangerously soft hearted” which I just love. When describing what they do, I think World Vision says it best,
“We partner with children, families, and their communities to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.”
Who can’t get behind that type of mission, right?
At this time of year, I love highlighting ways to give gifts for the holiday that somehow give back. Over the years, I’ve shared about different ways to do just that, from buying a gorgeous basket or candlesticks to support moms and their children, a cow for a family or investing in a microloan in your recipient’s name.
Let’s face it, I’m at a time in my life where really, none of my siblings or friends actually need anything from me for the holidays but is sure is nice to give them a gift that is not only pretty, but helps in doing something bigger than any of us. That’s where World Vision’s gift catalog comes in. In addition to the incredible work World Vision does around the globe, they offer a gift catalog full of incredible, hand-crafted gifts from artisans all over the world. Not only are the gifts gorgeous, but by purchasing them, you are supporting artisans who are working their way out of poverty. It’s a win-win.
I was lucky enough to receive a gift-box from World Vision with a few of the pieces from this year’s catalog. It is hard to pick a favorite. I’ve been wearing the heck out of them since they day they arrived. You can check out my instagram story for a more up close and personal look. Better yet, just head over to the World Vision catalogue online and finish up (or start) your holiday shopping there.
Oh, and the folks at World Vision were generous enough to offer my readers a gift set as well. If you’re interested in having these pieces to give to your friends and family then leave a comment below with your favorite piece. I’ll choose a winner and World Vision will send you along a box of goodies to share as you please(or maybe just keep for yourself and just buy a family a cow!).
