We just found out a month ago that our lovely summer sitter is going back to college for extra classes. College is far from here so she won’t be around after June 1st.
I’m still in denial. She’s been my go-to since we moved to Jersey. She’s like a member of our family and since she left for school last year we have looked forward to her return in the summers.
There is another lovely young lady who has been coming over that I would snatch up in a second, but she can’t drive and when it comes time for multiple days over the summer, I’m not sure it’s a fit.
I have more clients now and I hope to add even more so it’s time to actually admit that I need more regular help with the kids. This is what I’ve been dreading since I enrolled in school.
I signed on yesterday to renew my account at Care.com. You may have seen their hilarious commercials. I used them when we first moved to NJ when I knew no one and The Husband suggested Care. I’m not sure how he knew. Perhaps they were an early client? I used them to find a sitter when I was out selling cosmetics and then once or twice after that. We found our beloved A. through them.
As soon as I posted my job I had about fifteen applicants. I used the above picture so I think that’s how I sucked these people in so quickly! Now I just have to contact and vet each one, which is the part I’ve been avoiding all along. I got so lucky last time I used Care because we found her almost right away. I’m nervous it won’t work quite that way again. I do know though that using Care means I can be sure the people are safe. Even if they’re not a fit, I have seen that the folks on that website are quality people. It feels less desirable than a personal reference and more desirable than a craigslist post. Until I have more personal references, I’m sticking with Care.
There are so many unknowns when it comes to childcare. I’m happy some of the security work has been done for me.
Disclosure-this post was not sponsored in any way. I have used Care.com for a few years and while I’ve met a few of their PR people at various events, which always makes me think I should share my experiences with my readers. So, I finally did it. They have not asked me or paid me to write this post and all opinions are mine based on my experience. If you’re from Care.com, feel free to get in touch tell me who to pick.;)
