The teeming rain kept The Girl and The Baby up late last night. He just kept weeping and when I asked him why he’d answer, “I don’t know.” It was pitiful. (FTR-when The Husband asked him, he answered that his ear hurt. Guess he needs concrete reasons for dad.)
The Girl just kept walking the halls. Once when I asked, she said she was scared of the weird noises. When I sat with her and explained what they were she seemed alright but then every time I reentered The Baby’s room throughout the night, I heard her stalking his doorway. I contemplated inviting her in to sleep with him-there is safety in numbers after all-but she’d scurry away every time I’d turn to face her.
Throughout this entire episode, The Middle One snored away, no matter how much noise was in his room. He gets his sleep habits from his dad. Seems my Bookends have inherited their mother’s sleep habits. I’m sorry for them. Insomnia makes for tough mornings. This night served as a reminder of how similar these two are. They are separated by their brother, but they are connected by their quirky spirits. And apparently, their inability to fall asleep in less than perfect conditions.

I was up all night also due to the weird noises. It’s definitely in the genes!
Here's to calmer weather and a good night sleep tonight.
