We’re putting him on television?
On The Today Show right NOW there is a seven year old boy who a few days ago, stole and drove his parents car-evading police-around town and back again, because he didn’t want to go to church.
And now Ann Curry is all smiles and dimples and Meredith Vieira is being so sweet with him. His dad (while saying “at first it was serious”) has the nerve to chuckle.
In the beginning, according to the Salt Lake Tribune, the parents were voiding interviews because they didn’t want to reward their son for his behavior. What changed?
It is not “light now”, dad. It should never be light. It is serious. And dangerous and could have been deadly.
I am not judging these parents because their kid stole a car and drove away from police. I would never judge that because I can not guarantee that my own kids won’t try it one day. We’re all just doing the best job we can. I just disagree with what the best job looks like after the fact.
My complaint is that this kid did a terrible thing and at age seven, you know what he’ll remember: I got on TV and the people there thought I was so cute.
Kid Driver is grounded with no TV-Oh, except for his appearance on morning news shows.

Totally agree with you 100%!!!(I saw the interview on the Today show too and thought it was unbelievable that they were making "light" of the situation.)
