The other day I was driving to a doctor’s appointment when the song Patience by Guns n Roses came on the radio. Oh yeah, have I mentioned that Jersey radio falls into two categories: old crap and new crap. They don’t even try to call it classic rock. It’s just rock. Mostly it makes me giggle, but sometimes it can be really fun. Anyway, I digress-let me get back to the whistling classic of GNR.
I heard those first few notes and I was instantly transported to the back steps of the Mayer’s house with some boy that I totally looooooved at the time. (The fact that I can’t remember his name right now is irrelevant. What I do remember is he sang that song to me and to this day it makes me feel all squirrely in my tummy.
It occurred to me that for whatever reason there are a a few songs that no matter how old or how lame they may be to my kids, if they come on the radio I never turn them off. Here are a few off the top of my head. I’d love to hear yours.
Whitesnake: Here I go again on my own. I have no explanation except that I might pretend I’m crawling across the hood of that race car in my head. Once upon a time I head this song and thought I was quite the rogue independent. Don’t judge.

Summertime: Will Smith -This really should need no explanation
Let Me Clear My Throat: Dj Kool-Just makes me think of DC and high school and ya’ know-40’s. Also, let me not lie-I like a little call and repeat. Just sayin’. (When I say ugh you say ah.)
There are so many more but I’ll spare you for now. I may just sneak in a few later with some posts of a different title. Please! Share your car stopping faves.
