For those of you with me a year ago you might remember our Mother’s Day Tea at The Middle One’s Preschool. It was traumatic to say the least. Yesterday was Tea at the new preschool. I am happy to report the tea, much like the school, was almost perfect. What went wrong you ask? Oh yeah, I was late and arrived to a room full of moms waiting for ME. Eek. Oh well, let’s not dwell.
Instead let’s focus on this:
This sweet boy, who is now very nice to his kitty (that he used to traumatize daily) sang me songs that made us both smile.
He followed the direction of his teacher who is clearly off to his left side.
He signed some of the songs, which takes a lot of concentration. Also it makes mom cry.
After songs he served me cake, strawberries and whipped cream all made by the sweet hands of him and his classmates. Then he waited patiently for all the moms to be served and all his friends to be seated at our table before he ate. This was a really big deal.
Then he presented me with this-which also made me cry. When he presented it he was most proud that we now both have badges (his a Star Wars pin from a recent birthday party and mine a heart.) Later, he continuously tried to take the pin back for the rest of the day.
Then we heard a story and I got to hold my baby on my lap. The day was glorious. He was in his element and I couldn’t have been more proud. We have survived a roller coaster year and now my boy seems to be back on top. At the end of the party he gave me and All About My Mom Sheet. Among other things (my height-10ft!) he listed my favorite thing to do was go to the beach. Does this kid know me or what? I changed schools because I thought I knew him too. After the beauty of yesterday, I got some affirmation that I do, and I was right.
