Last night we had a bit of a moment with our sick kid. He’s had a fever for two days and got a little weepy and started talking nonsense. It only lasted about a minute. I remained calm(ish) but it was slightly terrifying and the littlest one picked up on that.
Before I could even address him, The Girl swooped in and took him to her room to “see something special”. She just got it. She figured out he was nervous and did what needed to be done. She’s always been a little helper, but in that moment she just seemed so mature and wise.
It’s such a golden time with her this year. She’s funny and kind and such a joy to be around. She’s always been these things, but there is some magic that has happened recently where our two puzzle pieces are fitting together like never before.
I dig The Girl. Hard.
