I remember when I was five
Runnin‘ round, happy just to be alive
I’d cry whenever you left
Thought you weren’t coming back,
See daddy wasn’t there
I remember when I was ten
Hiding in the kitchen just to hear you sing
You’d smile when I’d sing along
Beltin‘ out the new Al Green song
I’m so thankful God sent me to you
Times were tough but, you pulled us right through
And I think about you every day, every day
And momma straight from my heart,
I wanna thank you
I remember when I was sixteen
Dodging trouble, chasing dreams
You were there to cheer me on,
Pick me up when everything went wrong
I’m so thankful God sent me to you
Times were tough but, you pulled us right through
And I think about you every day, every day
Momma straight from my heart,
I wanna thank you
Here I am a (wo)man all grown
Settled down, got some kids of my own
Sometimes I remind me of you
Puts a smile on my face when I do
I’m so thankful God sent me to you
Times were tough but you pulled us right through
And I think about you every day, every day
And Momma straight from my heart
I wanna thank you
And Momma straight from my heart, I wanna thank you
Thank you, Thank you Momma.

Im sorry you lost your mom, but the relationship you had with her – though it ended earlier than it should have – is more than many of us get in a lifetime. Im sure you are just as wonderful of a mom as she was to you. How could you NOT be? you had a great role model 🙂

sadie has her nose shoved in my right eyeball because she is the tear police and i may, at this current moment in space & time, be weeping like i broke something expensive and sentimental. other than that, i loved it 🙂

Hootie does know how to write a song:) And as always, thanks for putting into words what I'm thinking/feeling. I'm still learning that whole talking/expressing your feelings thing.
Love and miss you. Your little, oh thats right I'm the older sister:)
