Everyone woke up with that allergy haze today. They certainly could have gone to school and toughed it out, probably ending the day no worse for wear. But when The Middle One snuggled up to me this morning and said he wished we could just do that all day, I caved and called a family mental health day.
So far, we’ve made pancakes, played a math computer game from school that they love and had a Zelda family round on the DS. Later, we’ll squeeze on the couch together and watch a movie we never have time to see.
Call it irresponsible. Maybe their teachers hate me for it. But I figure it won’t be long before they don’t want to spend days off with me or even eachother so for now I’m exercising my Selfish Mom rights and stealing them from their teachers so I can have them all to myself.
Just for one more day.
