You may have noticed my absence yesterday. I took the weekend off and I won’t apologize for it. (Even though I’m dying too.) I will say that next year I’ll make sure there is a guest post or an archive post here for your to enjoy. This year, I didn’t plan to take the whole weekend off, but I’m sure glad I did.
Memorial Day weekend at the beach is an event. This year was enhanced by perfect weather. I mean, perfect. We had sun and breezes for four long days. Yesterday there was a huge shower over night so the day was even better than we expected.
Somewhere around Saturday afternoon I decided to just completely unhook and spend time with my family and friends. I barely checked Facebook or Twitter. I didn’t read a single blog. I wrote one very short post for All Thing Chic but guess what it was about? Yep, beach gear!
Anyway, the point of all this is not to give you a run down of my weekend but instead recommend you do the same. I feel fantastic. I feel more connected to my husband and kids than I have in months. I am rejuvenated and even though I wish school was over and we could start summer for real, I am ready to take on the next three weeks with more energy and enthusiasm than I thought I could muster a few short days ago.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my online world. Without blogging and twitter I would feel mostly alone during those long cold months of winter. But when summer comes, it’s time to spend more time with the real people in my life. Summer is time to kick back, to unplug and, like all my little gadgets, to recharge so I can work more efficiently in the long run.

Yes, it is refreshing to unplug for a few days. But, like you, I love plugging back in when Fall rolls around!!

Agreed. Fall means a new year and I’m always ready for that!

Unplugging is ALWAYS a great idea! 🙂 I’m so glad you had a great time. i wanted to take the weekend at the beach, but it wasn’t in the cards for us. Still, I spent much of the weekend reading and in the kitchen, and one day we took off and went on a nature hike. FUN! And so refreshing not to be tied to the computer.

I think it could have happened anywhere-beach, park, kitchen-as long as it didn’t involve being online. Glad you had a great weekend.
