Today I’ll save fabulous for these five Bloggers who make my world better. I could list way more than five. There are so many fabulous bloggers I’ve come to know and love. But today-these are the fabbest. They either make me think, make me laugh or often both. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Laurie of Laurie Writes: First, she has a non-mom life which makes her instantly fabulous. She still goes to bars and sporting events that don’t include pee wee leagues. See? Fabulous. Second, she’s a girl that I grew up with and then literally (yes, literally) ran into at BlogHer last year. She said nice things to me-which as you know with me- goes far. So, (third) I visited her blog after that conference. I was smack in the face knocked over by how wildly talented she is. This blog is often poignant, sometimes sad, usually hilarious and just all around so great that I find I miss her when I’ve been away a while.
Holly, of The Culture Mom reached out to help raise money for Haitian amputees. I was lucky enough to answer that call. Holly is a force. She uses her blog not only to keep moms up to date with great things to do, wear, see, and be in and around NYC, but she also uses her social media power to raise women up through charity ventures like the HAMA campaign or with guest bloggers like the one here. I’m so thrilled to know Holly and I love visiting The Culture Mom.
I had seen Audrey of Mom Generations before. She’s glamorous. It’s that simple. In my brain, I figured it was useless to read her blog because I was sure everything she wrote, with her professional fashion background, would be completely unattainable and frankly depressing for me and my ponytail. Then I actually visited her site and I was instantly in love. She is glamorous, but she tells a story of how she briefly lost her fashionable self somewhere after the second baby and it took a friend to shake her out of it. After the shake up, she took what she used to live and love and gave it a hot mom spin. Everything on her site is gorgeous and doable. She has to chase around a bunch of boys, so she knows her clothes have to work in the trenches but that doesn’t mean they can’t be fantastic looking too. Audrey’s simple post-baby story spoke to me. It forced me to re-think my penchant for yoga pants and hoodies and re-awaken the girl who used to never even own flats. I owe Audrey for opening my eyes to still being fashionable AND a mom. My husband owes her even more. Her work for literacy is just icing on this old English teacher’s cake.
Speaking of fashion and hot moms-the collective All Things Chic is full of both! It is the brain child of Jo-Lynne of Musings of a Housewife and Melissa of Girly Mama and believe me it truly is All Things Chic. These two hot-shots and all their writers (ahem, I might be one) have combined two already great fashion sites to launch All Things Chic. Check it out. The writers span decades and stations in life and they each bring great perspective on everything. From clothes to homes, if it’s hot it’s here.
Finally, I saved this one for last because if you click here, you just might pee your pants. Promtacular is the guffaw-inducing invention of Kristy of She Just Walks Around With It which first made me cry laughing about a year ago. (With a blog name like that, can’t you already tell where this is going?) Promtacular is old prom pictures, which are often hilarious all by themselves. What do you get when you add Kristy’s explanations and fiercely witty narrative? Well, you get pee in your pants. Consider this a warning.
So there you have it. From gut wrenching to gut busting, I assure you-my Fab Five do not disappoint.
Don’t forget to enter the 50 Fabulous Wishes contest for a chance to win $1,000 to support a friend’s wish. I was selected for this Tropicana Trop50 sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do. I received compensation to use and facilitate my post.
