Today we moved in. Of course, the movers were here a month ago I have been unpacking boxes for weeks, but today we hung pictures, and shelves and mirrors. We put the kids art on the wall and the “family control center” bulletin board in the kitchen. Now it feels like home. Danny was so excited getting in to bed tonight because now it “is my room, with shelved but except no hallway.” Adorable.
Every day we feel a little more like maybe we’ll stay. Today was gorgeous weather. Everyone was out walking in town. I felt like I really belonged there because I was one of the few people who did not have to find parking. I walked down Broad Street after mass to get a Latte and The New York Times. Who the heck do I think I am buying the Sunday Times? It’s surreal living this close to NYC. I have dreamt of living there my whole life.
Red Bank sure ain’t the Big Apple. But, for now, it’s home and maybe that’s not so bad after all.
