I know what you’re thinking, that title must mean she’s finally lost her mind. I mean, if all you do is pay attention the news of cancelled flights and airline mergers, layoffs, and sequester damage, you’ll never fly anywhere again. But, after just returning from a trip that had its share of travel mishaps, I came home and realized I couldn’t help but still find air travel pretty Wonderful.
My kids have never been on a plane (a fact that I hold as a personal failure). I hope to remedy this situation soon, but in the meantime, I take pictures from the plane every time I’m away. I want them to see how miraculous it is to be among the clouds. I don’t travel a ton. But I travel enough that most of this is pretty routine. And yet, when I get home and scroll through these shots with the kids, I can’t help by feel the same magic they feel when looking at the world from the sky.
They marvel at the size of the world from up above.
And in between.
They look for what they recognize.
We see security lines and layovers. They see magic.
Maybe there on to something.
And there you have it…wonder, in air travel.
