Last week it was Texas. This week, I’m packing my bags for sunny San Diego. Once I got the Three’s Company theme song out of my head, I started humming some of these favorites. If my whole world (and a bit of my snobbery) wasn’t so tainted with East Coast, I would have relocated to Cali long ago. I have had a pretty heave love affair with that state since my mom and sister drove me from Disney Land to Wine Country and I was smitten with every single stop (except LA-yech). The only place I hadn’t been before now was San Diego. So, please, enjoy these songs while I go check off my bucket list.
2Pac (feat. Dr. Dre)-California Love: “The state where you never find the dance floor empty”(also, the bomb ass hemp, but whatevs).
Vanessa Carlton- San Francisco: I discovered this last year when I searched “San Francisco” on iTunes to prepare for my trip there. It was an emotional trip because it was all exciting yet tinged with some sadness because the last time I was there my mom showed me around her hometown. This time, I wouldn’t even be able to tell her about it. What a find this song was. I love her voice and the piano provided just the melancholy I needed for my “deep-thought” flight out. I didn’t listen to it much after-too much joy in my soul.
Train- Save Me San Francisco: This song played on a loop all last summer as my flight to the City by the Bay literally started the turn around my life so dearly needed. “If I could wish upon a star I would hitch a cable car.”
311-Sunset in July: Pretty sure these guys are from Nebraska, but I am loving this song so much this summer and I can just picture the carefree surfers that I expect to see by the ocean on this trip.
It’s the greatest city in the history of mankind. Not a song, but it has been playing through my head since January when I booked my ticket! Enjoy!
