We have this great local station 90.5 The Night Brookdale Community College’s Public Radio. I love listening to it for new music that doesn’t have a Club Back Beat. Some of the songs I hear there end up on regular radio. Some are just relegated to Barnes and Noble Playlists. Either way, I love the music. Today I could only find a few on You Tube so I’ll let you find the rest on iTunes all by yourself. My nephew introduced me to a great phone App that I’m not sure how I lived without. It’s called Sound Hound and if you hold your phone up to any music playing it will identify artist and song for you. It’s a small miracle. Once I got past the strange looks in the bookstore as I stood holding my phone in the air, I began using it ALL THE TIME. So here are my top five new Bookstore/College Radio Songs.
This one is everywhere now but I heard it first months ago because college kids are cool like that. They’re probably so over it now.
This guy’s voice, literally, IS college radio.
Find the song “Subway” on iTunes. You can almost imagine your college bar. Can’t find that one on You Tube so here’s this, a video in a music store complete with people walking in front of the camera. Priceless and exactly the reason I love good music-it transcends crappy camera work. Now for your listening pleasure, close your eyes, ignore the stroller crossing and love The Damwells.
Love. Love. Love and might just want a cigarette.
So here in Jersey they play this guy’s cover of Thunder Road that is so amazing you I almost wrecked my car the first time I heard it. That is nowhere to be found on the internets so you’ll just have to visit next time he plays The Downtown. For now, enjoy this one-the REAL Jersey Shore.
