It starts first thing in the morning and lasts all day. The Baby follows the Middle One around. Baby brings MO toys and steals snacks from pantry to bring to MO when I’m not looking. He wants to play whatever his brother is playing. He wants clothes just like his brother. The Middle One can make The Baby laugh with his antics unlike anyone else can. In short, Baby tries to replicate everything (good and bad) that Middle One does during the day.
It’s cute and of course it is reminiscent of the way The Middle One used to follow The Sister around in exactly the same manner. That was cute too.
In both instances though, I brace myself for the inevitable heartbreak. Because the Hero never gives his or her role the importance I think they should. And as the day begins with following, it almost always end in tears (usually because of a push, a wallop or the worst-abandonment)that follow the moment-albeit brief-where The Hero falls.
Crushing and also-a little cute.
