Whew! What a week. We’ve had more sadness and overwhelm on our plates here than I care to reflect. I said goodbye to a woman that was the first person to be nice to me in New Jersey. She was responsible for this. It was awful and draining and there just isn’t much room for much else this week.
So today’s Mini-Van Mix is all about silly music that makes the air lighter. Maybe it’s because my only moments of fun this week were spent in some junior high classrooms. Maybe it’s because when these songs come on in the car, everyone sings…loud. Whatever the case, there is something about these tunes that just bring relief. None of these songs are winning any awards but they go a long way toward lifting some spirits. These are pop-star one hit wonders. Calling them music might be a stretch but this week I was thankful for each one. Music snobs beware.
B.o.B-So Good: I. Love. This. Man. (Is he a man? Young Boy? Whatever. Just Dance.) The Baby always makes me “GO BACK!” when I pass this on the radio dial.
Travie McCoy-We’ll Be Alright: Any time this song is sampled (or used in the Clueless soundtrack) it works for me. (Man, don’t sleep on the Clueless Soundtrack. You wanna talk fun?) Also, Travie always makes me smile.
Call Me Maybe: Carly Rae Jepsen: I told you. Silly.
One Direction-What Makes You Beautiful: Once a BoyBand Lover Always a BB Lover.
Stronger- Kelly Clarkson: (Seattle Hospital Cancer Ass Kickers Video) This song makes me run faster so I love it anyway. Seeing this video, Tuesday after the memorial service gave me some hope. Watch it. Share it.
