I am very good in emergencies. If you fall, get a tooth knocked out, cut a chin, wreck your car-any situation where you need need help and can’t think straight to do it yourself- I’m your girl.
It is something I am usually proud of but lately I have been beating myself up over. Why? Because it seems I was only good in emergencies and a bit of a disaster in regular every day life.
I have been working hard to change that and I’ve had some relative success so far starting with a regular wake up routine that allows me to get much done before my kiddoes are up and clamoring for me for the day. (Pending they sleep past my wake time!)
This morning the husband has a big meeting in Washington, DC. I know, we move here and he goes there, ridiculous.
Anywhoo…
He woke and didn’t have a confirmation from his car service and was in a bit of crisis mode. Because I was up early, I could put on my cape (poured my coffee) and take care of it. While he was all, “hmm what do I do should I try to call these guys again?
I calmly walked over to my computer, found a Red Bank taxi service and gave him the number. He was putting his computer away at that point and I actually said, “wouldn’t calling this guy be a better use of your time? You can pack your computer while you wait on your ride.” (Oh, yeah I’m also kinda a bossy little snot when I’m in crisis mode. Sorry honey.)

He called, got a ride and all was right again.
As I’m writing this he is pacing the house because we’re pretty sure there are now TWO cars lined up outside to take him to the train.
Crisis averted. World saved. (Except for the poor second car guy!)
Sometimes being good in a pinch is still ok.
