Well, aren’t I the one with the red face? I was all, “waah, I don’t have extra me money, so this birthday stinks” on Friday and then wouldn’t you know it? The entire weekend turned out amazing.
I woke Saturday morning to the smell of angel food cake. My coffee was delivered to bed by the chef and I enjoyed the warm sun pouring through my window for an hour of quiet. It was Heaven.
We spent our afternoon moving The Husband’s sister and her husband, which was great for me because it’s unpacking, not packing so it was a total vacation from my own house of boxes. Also, I got to unpack their kitchen which is like a vacation to me. Figuring out where to put all that stuff is like a giant game of Tetris. Not to mention moving in to a new place is all potential and possibility which just makes me all warm-hearted. It was actually fun and the kids were so well-behaved they deserve great rewards.
That night we all just sat around taking and laughing over some very indulgent tacos and a signature vodka tonic or two.
My in laws took our kids overnight so we got to sleep in. When we woke, we ran (literally) to our favorite breakfast place for the most delectable veggie egg-white omelet and then we walked home. In all, a four mile round trip-not too shabby for an old lady!
In the afternoon, I used a returned Christmas gift to do some major bargain shopping at Macy’s. I walked in with one shirt, and out with a dress, a shirt and some much needed warm gloves. I spent the evening working at Barnes and Noble which I love because then you end Sunday ready to face the week with a fresh plan.
It was perfect. Truly. Everything from the first Facebook birthday wish to my breakfast at Tavolo was better than I imagined. What started out in the dumps turned into a weekend where I was reminded that the greatest gift,a life full of people you love, is really what makes one rich.
Happy Birthday indeed.
