The news came in about a month ago: The Silicon Valley Moms Blog Groups would cease to print as of July 1st. The email came in amidst a sea of others that were all full of great news and opportunity. It was quite a juxtaposition. After all, without SVMoms, I am certain none of the other emails would have been in my inbox.
I started this little blog just over a year ago. It was mainly a way to stay connected to family I was moving away from. It morphed into therapy for me. Now it has become a new career.
When I moved to New Jersey I almost instantly signed on to write with Silicon Valley Moms. Within a few posts, I was published in over six different daily newspapers across the country thanks to an agreement SV Moms had with The McClatchy Company. And that was literally the top of the roller coaster. I have been flying downhill with my hands in the air ever since. Through SV Moms I was introduced to women that inspire me with the careers they have created or grown since becoming moms. I am wide eyed at every turn as I watch my own life unfold.
In May I attended an event at The Tribeca Cinema in New York. You might remember me going on and on about the Tribeca Film Festival last year. Well, this is where it all began and there I stood, on a red carpet-step and repeat- no less, with other Bloggers and companies who thought we were an important enough voice to spend a sunny Sunday with. I learned about amazing products like Bit Defender, a security software company who has their own mothers’ group. I got the delicious new Lawry’s marinades that have made my life easier and tastier. I got copies of Lifetime movies and shows to give away to you. And of course, it was in Tribeca where I got my oft gushed about iGo Charge Anywhere remote device charger, that has literally changed my life. I also experienced firsthand iGo Inc’s environmentally awesome iGo Green Power Smart Tower.
Would I have ever gotten this opportunity without my link to Silicon Valley Moms Blog? I think not.
This week, I am prepping for an entirely new adventure. On Monday, I will help launch another exiting new Collective that was born in writing for SV Moms. Then, I will fly off to California to meet with folks at Yahoo!-yes, Yahoo! who think that as Mom Bloggers we are important enough to spend a sunny Friday with.
Moms, we have a lot to say. Moms, we have a lot of power outside our four walls. Moms, we write and we write well. When you get a group of moms who write together-they can change the world. On some level, I always knew that. But it took the moms of Silicon Valley to bring the point home.

I'm so happy you've found a home. I'm still hoping to find a place, too.
SV Moms was great, and I enjoyed every exciting second of it.

Hi Cristie-
When I first heard of the Traveling Circus, I had full intentions of following your every post. However, as a mom, you know, things like that seem to be a luxury to get to with the kids, work, house, etc. (Imagine that, in high school I never would have been caught dead referring to reading as a luxury!) Anyway, I'm glad I got an update today. Have fun hanging with the Yahooers! I look forward to more updates!

Hi Cristie,
I wanted to let you know that you have inspired me to write my own blog. As I am trying to fit it in to an already crazy schedule, it's not quite as interesting to read as yours – just the mundane things in my day to day life that I want to capture. Nonetheless, thanks for the inspiration and good luck with your new adventure. See you in a couple of weeks!
