I should be writing about the delightful seventh birthday tea party, but what I want to do is write about everyone’s favorite Summer Camp Dance Teacher.
That’s right, another piece of childhood died this week.
Kevin broke the news to me last night. (See I told you he likes to ruin Hollywood things for me!)

You introduced me to seductive power of dance before I was old enough to understand why I felt all warm and fuzzy inside watching you keep your spaghetti arms firm.
You helped me root for the underdog. I couldn’t wait for you to show those Richie Riches who was boss.
Sure. You had some not so great movies.
Sure you had some movies that were better than Dirty Dancing was meant to be.
Sure, you had a wildly successful Broadway career.
You and Lisa were the model of a strong partnership with your marriage.
You were many things Patrick Swayze.
But for this mom you will always be Johnny Castle.
You make me want to carry a watermelon.

One of my ALL time favorite movies. I do not have that innate ability to quote movies, so whenever anybody is quoting movies I always like to throw in "Nobody puts Baby in the corner!" LOVE LOVE LOVE Dirty Dancing. I will admit I did cry watching the news this morning. Out of all the celebrity passings this year, his to me personally has been the saddest. He did another dance movie just a few years ago with his wife called "One Last Dance" not the best movie I've ever seen, but the dancing/choreography was AWESOME. (I think I may have been the only person to see it!)I will definitely be watching Dirty Dancing this weekend as a tribute to Patrick.
