Our house is such that when guests stay with us, we bunk Faith in with the boys and our guests get her room. At first I thought it might be a problem. But the kids love it.
In fact, this weekend we have visitors coming and they have been anxiously awaiting the sleeping bags and pajama fest so much so that I think they are looking more forward to night than day! If you ask what we’re going to do with our guests, there is no mention of the beach or the park. Nope, all they will show you is the sleeping bags that they can not wait to use.
I’m kinda with them. Slumber parties are awesome. Some of my greatest memories come from sleeping over friends’ houses as a kid. Heck, come to think of it, some of my favorite moments as an adult are when I’ve bunked in with girlfriends and stayed up all night laughing and talking. There is nothing better than drifting off to sleep after a really good heart to heart. I’m just as excited to have overnight guests as my kids are.
I don’t think there will be much soul searching going on in the kids’ room this weekend. But there will be plenty of slumber partying. (Even if it’s short on the slumber part.)
