Needless to say, I didn’t have high expectations for Wednesday night for myself. I expected the kids to enjoy it, but I figured I’d just get through it like a lot of other childhood milestone events parents have endured through the years.
Well, color me pleasantly surprised. The Ringling Brothers (and the Feld Sisters) brought their A game to Newark this week. The kids AND The Husband and I loved every second from the preshow to the final Fully Charged blast. The show was a great mix of suspense and comedic frolics for everyone. I loved the elephant and the big cats and Tabayara the animal trainer was just the right mix of charm and magic for his part.
The clowns were funny and during the preshow-quite engaging so the kids felt like they had their own private show.
If I were one to complain, which I’m not, I might say it lasted about 20 minutes too long for most little kids. There was a human flaming arrow act that would have made a nice ending, but it was followed by more acrobatics that left most kids in our row squirming in their seats. I suspect none of them remember that though. They were mesmerized for most of the night and in a time where bigger, faster and stronger technology rules their time, it was refreshing to see them so entertained by something as classic as a The Ringling Brothers show-even if it was Fully Charged.

*Disclosure, my family and I received complimentary admission to the show as a courtesy, but all of our squeals and giggles were completely our own.

My response is – what a lot of BS. I've been close and personal friends with several people who have toured with this circus over the years and they LOVE their animals. If human beings treated other human beings as lovingly as these people treat their animals the world be an altogether more lovely place.
