Petz & Dresses

When Santa brought both The Girl and The Middle One Nintendo DSis for Christmas, it was clear that these game systems were way more suited for T.M.O. He got six games, she got one. There just isn’t much out there that this particular eight year old girl is interested in. Thankfully, she was thrilled with her present of one.
The game was Petz Nursery 2 from Ubisoft. I had gotten a chance to try this game over the summer at the Ubisoft booth at BlogHer. (The booth where I also broke a sweat playing my favorite Gold’s Gym Dance Workout in heels!) I knew as soon as those little critters came on the screen in August, that this game would be perfect for The Girl.
With Petz Nursery 2, She gets to have the menagerie she always asks for and her mean old mother never allows. It’s a win for both of us because she gets all the fun part of having pets, the naming, the feeding, the nurturing, without any of the actual mess or annoyance that real puppies and kitties bring. So far she’s got a collection of pets that she loves taking care of and playing with and I have no one to clean up after.

The Girl was getting along just fine with her penguins and kittens when she stumbled across another game that intrigued her. It seems I had not done a good enough job of hiding Style Lab Fashion Design. It is another Ubisoft game that I had gotten for review but was afraid to hand over to the kids because I thought it would require a lot of work on my part, which I wasn’t ready to do. Once she found it in a pile on my desk though I couldn’t say no. We’ve both been pleasantly surprised with Style Lab Fashion Design. The Girl gets to create her own clothing like the budding designer that she is and I have to do nothing to assist except admire her creations, which is easy to do. Style Lab Fashion Design does allow you to upload and purchase your designs in the Design Lab store so you can wear them yourself, but she’s had so much fun creating she hasn’t realized that yet. So as she gets her inner Whitney Port on with a collection of  shirts, hoodies and bags that she can try on her own photo avatar, I can go about making dinner without uploading or syncing anything to my laptop. It’s a score for each of us!
Now all I have to do is keep The Baby from figuring out the technology to order the entire collection of new clothes on my Visa while somehow managing to make the Petz panda and tigers come to life.
That kid’s a maniac.
