Last week The Middle One and I had some mom and son time as we headed into NYC for the MomTrends Back to School Bash. The Model got to strut his stuff in a kids’ fashion show and I got to learn about some new (and old favorite) items for back to school. As always, Mom Trends put on a fabulous event and I came back with ideas aplenty to start off the school year fabulously.
French Toast: These were the clothes The Middle One modeled and while he may have been a tad disappointed in the choice (he was thinking bathing suit, not suit jacket!) ultimately he was pretty proud to strut down the runway in his French Toast khakis and blue blazer. As a mom of three school-uniformed kids, I was pretty happy to see the French Toast reinforced knees and high quality polo shirts for a fraction of the cost of some competitors. We will definitely be adding French Toast to our uniform rotation this fall.
Mabel’s Labels: These little workhorses have been a family favorite since I sent to my first blogging conference in 2009 and met the creator. She and the rest of the Mabel’s staff are possibly the kindest most gracious people you’ll ever meet, which makes it a bonus that I love their stuff because if I can give my money to nice people it’s that much better! The only things to say about Mabel’s labels are the kids love them because they’re stylish and I love them because they literally stick to anything, forever no matter how you treat them. We have Mable’s on our beach water bottles and they have lived through five summers of sand and surf with nary a lifted corner. Miracle labels is more like it.
Stride Rite: This may seem like a given as Stride Rite shoes have been adorning smart and stylish little feet since my own were in uniform shoes. The reason we love them today is because they carry the Sperry Top Siders that proved themselves last year as the ONLY shoe my boys can not beat to death. They both wore them for the entire year and if they hadn’t outgrown them, could wear them again. No holes in the toe where they drag their feat. No separated sole from too much use. They’re our go-to school shoe for rough and tumble boys and one fashion conscious girl as well.
Vamousse: Vamousse is a new product to me. It’s all natural lice preventer and killer. They claim to be as effective as the not-natural stuff without all the chemicals. I hope never to prove them right, but after last year’s lice marathon, I’ve stocked up just in case.
For Mom: Vera Bradley tote. The event was held in the Vera Bradley showroom and while my sister probably would have been a better guest than I as my obsessions lie elsewhere, I will tell you the Vera Bradley tote I left with has become my favorite bag. It’s stylish chevron so not too floral for my taste and there are more pockets than a girl could ever want, and I want a lot of pockets. It’s light weight but big enough for the books I lug back and forth to work as well as a laptop and my lunch. I am obsessed with it-almost as much as my Vera toting sister.
There were quite a few other brands at the MomTrends that interested me. I’ll get to those soon-promise. Now, we’re off to enjoy a bit more of summer with my tiny model!

I love the tartan tie! I wish my boys would wear Sperry shoes, but they are all about sneakers. All. The. Time.
