So I know I sell skin care, which I love and of course of which I am a totally loyal user. And if I do say so myself, it is a remarkable Brand and you would be hard-pressed to find better anywhere else.
Now that I have given the requisite disclaimer, I have to admit that every once in a while I am overcome with desire for Another.
I am the poster child for “The Eye Buys” so it is no wonder why I got sucked into the world of Lollia. It is everything I’m not-lovely and dainty and girly in a small cute way. (Not fishing for compliments, just aware of myself and small and dainty are words never associated with me.) The display was like a magnet drawing me in with it’s promise of pure, sweet femininity.
First, I must tell you I found this product at the Carla Gizzi wonderland (uh, I mean store) on Front Street right here in Red Bank. If you are local, you must go. Not only is the place a veritable playground of gifts, jewelry, furniture, to-die-for chandeliers, and all manner of other pretties; but Carla Gizzi herself is someone I totally wish I could hang out with on a regular basis. Just being in her presence is worth the trip. If you’re not local-visit me OR visit here– also a visual treat.
Ok, so back to my hand creme love affair. I went to Carla Gizzi for a private shopping event (ahem) when I first moved here. I PROMISED myself I wouldn’t buy anything. In the beginning of the night, I believed my own promise so when I happened upon the gorgeous table of Lollia products I sampled the hand creme and loitered around a bit just inhaling the deliciousness that is the world Lollia. Apparently, these products were an Oprah favorite thing in 2004. Then, quite honestly I forgot all about it and ended up buying a gift for someone else.
I got home later that night (much later) and caught a whiff of my hands (yes, still there despite repeated hand washings and sampling of tasty treats to wash down my wine) and remembered how much I love, love, loved the Breathe scent. I was also amazed at how it managed to still smell when I put my hands to my nose, but it was never overpowering. Amazing. But, I had spent my allotted money so-no dice.
Meanwhile, fast forward to two weeks later when I am out with my sister who was visiting, and realize I have been thinking, talking and dreaming about this lotion for weeks. So in a moment of cheek-flushed shopping inspiration I drag my sister to Carla Gizzi and give in to the temptation once and for all.
Here is how Carla Gizzi website describes my new love:
The signature Breathe fragrance. Lush floral infusions of Peony & White Lily are at play with Lavender and Violet, creating a fresh fragrance that will become your everyday favorite. A luxurious botanical handcreme with rich Shea Butter, macadamia Nut and Brazil Oils to nourish hands. Smooth onto hands daily or as often as needed.
Sophisticated pattern play of vintage cabbage rose and modern floating peonies describes the packaging of Lollia Breathe Shea Butter Handcreme. The floral sleeve wraps over reusable box covered in monochromatic flowers and vines to house the aluminum tube filled with creme.

Here is how I describe it: amazingly long-lasting, deliciously light and yet mysteriously emollient.
Also, it is quite pretty to look at as you can tell from the description of the packaging. In fact, just having the box around makes me feel closer to the woman I dream to be in another life- the one who owns a cute B&B near the shore and grows her own flowers (yeah right!?!?!?!).
Here is how Kevin describes it: ” I guess it’s nice if you like to smell like someone’s grandma.”
Hmmm. guess he’s not used to me in floral scents-not usually my style. But, I’m not giving it up. I just keep telling him, “it’s this or finger nail polish/remover-take your pick.”
I just can’t stop Breathe
